Global Organisation Design & Change

We supported a very large multinational business with a major change and reorganisation of a key function.

Initially the function was highly decentralised, with small functional units reporting to national business managers, with several hundred units in more than 100 countries.Over a three-year period, the function was restructured to operate as a single global unit. This required the revision of the operating model, business processes, roles and role definitions throughout the function, and across the globe. It involved working with HR groups, working agreements and labour legislation in every country, and in some cases transferring staff to outsourcing partners.

The results were a reduction in staff from almost 5,000 to around 1,500, and an annual saving of several hundred €millions. Equally importantly, the service parameters of the function improved significantly, and the overall level of staff satisfaction increased.
